Getting clear
Yep. I do want it. I want a few things actually. But wanting and getting clear on what is in the best and highest interests for all are two TOTALLY DIFFERENT things. This is not to say that what we want is not to be ours. I'm just saying that in my own experience it takes a bit more discernment, time and deeper evaluation to know if I actually REALLY "want" it.
Let me give you an example. I have been working towards the purchase of my own property for over year. I am now nearing its completion. The bank is working with me, by April we will be ready to move forward. Well, here is it! It's what I wanted!! Or is it? I waver daily on this issue (you can ask my daughter, I think she's tired of hearing about it). But does that mean I do not want it? No, not really. What it means is I'm not a 100% yes yet. Some people call it a "full body yes". I'm not there.
Rev. Denise Schubert used to always say to me, "If its a yes it's a yes, if its a no it's a no, if it's a maybe its a no." That is SO VERY TRUE. Many times we can use our 20/20 hindsight to see so clearly that we really didn't "want" ___________. It's a lot easier to take time up front and just get clear.
So our exploration for this week is to really spend time in contemplation about the things we think we "want".
Oh yeah, and many times what we want is going to require some form of discipline on our part. Yeah, discipline is still freedom and is still a thing ya'll.
Peace and love,
Gina
Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Contemplation time.
Maybe you contemplate in the morning for 3 minutes before you get out of bed (not snooze, contemplate).
Maybe you contemplate on the train on the way to work, or during your morning or evening drive.
Maybe while you are in the shower.
Location is irrelevant just do the dang thang.
Here's the method. Breathe deeply. Bring the idea you would like to contemplate to your mind. Breathe and let the idea rollover in your mind. When your mind wanders bring it back.
Ask yourself, "Is this (insert thing wanted) in the best and highest interest for all?"
Breathe, listen, ask again.
Breathe, listen, contemplate.
Simple right?
Looking forward to hearing the outcome.
